A normal overhauling procedure is described below:

Checking the records of the technical data of the turbocharger and the, attached to it, engine, and discussion with the engine officers about any abnormal behavior of them.
Dismantling of the required casings (air filter, air insert, gas admission), bearings, diffuser depending on the type of turbocharger, and rotor-shaft.
Cleaning of the dismantled parts.
Inspection of the cleaned parts according to manufacturer’s specifications (which can be visual or require a specialized method i.e. ultrasonic measurement of the thickness of the casings).
Replacement of the required parts (after agreement with the client).
Assembly of all the parts back to the turbocharger.
Measurement of the clearances and checking compliance with the manufacturer’s limits.

RETROFIT – MODIFICATION OF ALL

Retrofit Experience

Over the years, our experience has shown that in many cases the repair of a vessel’s turbocharger is not cost efficient and more importantly is not reliable for the safe operation of the vessel. The engine’s turbocharger (T/C) in a vessel often due to various reasons such as poor fuel’s composition or slow streaming of the vessel fails to operate efficiently. This leads to recurring repairs and increased fuel consumptions.

In these cases the best and most appropriate solution is the replacement of the old turbocharger model (retrofit) with a new unit of more modern technology that results in improved fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperatures before and after the T/C. The life expectance of the T/C also increases.

Turbomed, through many years of experience in the turbocharger technology and by being continuously updated on the latest technological developments, can responsibly upgrade the turbocharger old formulas with ones of the latest technology.

Retrofit Process

In order to suggest a successful retrofit solution our engineers collect the engine’s and T/C’s data along with photos that show the connection of the two. After careful study and analysis they decide on the T/C’s coupling and mechanical adaptation to the engine. Any specifications needed on the nozzle ring and diffuser, are being considered in this process.

When the turbocharger is ready, it is being packaged and shipped to its destination. The service technicians are responsible for uninstalling the old model, making any modifications needed on the connecting parts and installing the new turbocharger.

BALLAST WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

INSTALLATIONS & PREFABRICATIONS

As the IMO regulations require the installation of a WBTS (Water Ballast Treatment System), Shipping companies make their choice from various manufactures in the market based on their needs and criteria.

Our job is to install the system and fabricate all pipe lines from bottom to top including foundations, platforms, gratings, etc as per maker’s plans.

Our company provides quality materials (pipes, flanges, gaskets, valves, etc) including their certificates.

ISO certified for welding procedures. Welders are also ISO certified.

What follows next is an inspection and surface treatment as per vessel’s requirements.

Then all pieces are transported to the vessel or can be stored in our warehouse and delivered when needed.

Installations on board can take place at any port of call worldwide or occasionally en route.

QUALITY CERTIFICATES
